Nepali and Sanskrit wall art in our Ek Shabda (One Word) collection means 23 prints, each one a single Nepali or Sanskrit word. The word is set large in Devanagari, with its transliteration and a short English meaning underneath, on a cream base with ink text and a small gold glint star. Below are all 23 words and what each one means.

What Nepali and Sanskrit words work as wall art?

The Nepali and Sanskrit words that work best as wall art are single words whose meaning you want to see every day. We print 23 Nepali and Sanskrit words, from कर्म (karma) and शान्ति (shanti) to प्रेम (prem) and साहस (sahasa). Each print has the word large in Devanagari, then the transliteration, then the English meaning. Below they are grouped by meaning, in four groups of our own.

Words for a calm room

  • शान्ति (Shanti): peace
  • मोक्ष (Moksha): liberation
  • निर्वाण (Nirvana): release, enlightenment

  • आत्मन् (Atman): the true self

All 23 are in the Ek Shabda collection. Each print uses one accent colour per word, on the rule line and on the transliteration.

What does karma mean on Nepali and Sanskrit wall art?

On our print, कर्म (karma) is given as "action, and what follows from it". That is the line printed under the word, so a guest who asks what it says can read the answer on the wall. The word stands large in Devanagari, with "Karma" and the meaning beneath it.

It is the Karma print. If you want a full line about karma rather than one word, our post on Sanskrit quotes with meaning covers कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन, which we print with the citation Bhagavad Gita 2.47.

Which Nepali or Sanskrit word means peace?

शान्ति (shanti) means peace. It is the word on our Shanti print, set large in Devanagari with the transliteration, Shanti, and the English meaning underneath, like the other 22 words in the collection. The whole print is one word and one colour accent on a cream base.

The Shanti print is one of the 23. For a quiet wall, the calm room group above is a good place to start. योग (yoga) means union on the Yoga print.
